The Crafty Cow - July Card Swap

I have recently joined the Crafty Cow forums and decided it would be fun to take part in the monthly card swaps. This month we were given a sketch to create our cards from. They could be any colour and any theme aslong as they had the same design as the sketch.

Here is the card I received from LexieCraft. I love it!! :)

Here is the card I sent her.

Jayne Netley Mayhew

I've recently purchased the Jane Netley Mayhew vol. 2 CD Rom and I love it. There are so many wonderful drawing of cats, dogs, tigers, lions, elephents, rabbit, fish, flowers and more.

Here is a card I have made using the black and white sketch of a kitten.

The card is 11 3/4" x 8 1/4" and scored at 5 7/8". The backing sheet is 5 7/8" x 8 1/4" and I have run a silver marker along the edges just to add some interest. The main image of the kitten was then decoupaged to give it a more realistic effect and the best wishes sign has a jewel on each of the visible corners to give it some sparkle.

Vase of Flowers

I thought I would try a couple of different things today. One of them is using digi stamps and the other is doing water colours using some Stampin' Up markers and a water brush.

The digi stamp of the vase of flowers can be found here at the Sketching Stamper Digi Stamp blog.

The backing paper is part of the popsicle paradise papers which can be downloaded here at the Creative Dreams website.

I started by making my base card at 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4". I printed one of the pink backing papers onto a piece of A4 cardstock and cut it at 8 1/4" by 4" and adhered it to the front of my card base.

I downloaded the digi stamp and printing it out at the desired size. I used Stampin' Up! markers to add some colour the edges of the flowers and then used a water brush to gently pull the colour into the centre of the flowers, giving a water colour effect. I added a little blue to the vase for a bit of shading.

Next I cut the cardstock as close as possible to the image just to tidy it up. This was then adhered in the centre of my card front.

I haven't added a sentiment yet as I am still unsure about what to use this card for.

Thanks for stopping by! :)
